The Studebaker Avanti (penned by Raymond Loewy) is an icon of American mid-century design. Due to the car’s complex body, it was fabricated from fiberglass, rather than steel, and featured V8 power (with optional supercharging. When production ended in 1963, fewer than 5000 examples were produced.
